Julie is a retired nurse and brings over 3 decades of acute care hospital experience to the SFMH Board. She has extensive leadership skills and operational experience acquired through her many roles in the Ontario hospital system. Julie’s career began as a frontline Registered Nurse working in Nephrology, Cardiology and then Critical Care in Ottawa and Huntsville. She and her husband settled in Whitby, Ontario in the mid-nineties to raise their children and pursue career opportunities. During the next 22 years Julie progressed through various health care roles including Director of Professional Practice and Director of Medicine and Pharmacy. In her last position as a consultant, Julie led several process and equipment change initiatives within acute care hospital settings. In addition to her hospital roles, she was an Adjunct faculty member of the Health Sciences Graduate studies at Ontario Tech University in Oshawa and served as the Board Chair for the Durham Chapter of the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Julie and her husband have been long time property owners in the Madawaska Valley and have made it their full-time home since 2016. In her free time, Julie enjoys crossing country skiing, hiking, golfing and traveling.
