Qualifications:
- Knowledge acquired through the successful completion of a recognized PSW program or what was formerly known as the HCA program. [i.e. Patient Care Assistant, Health Care Aide, Personal Support Worker]
- Knowledge of department/hospital policies and procedures.
- Provide close supportive care to patients and families, and specialized support of specific populations such as: dementia, palliative, and those with life limiting illness/disease.
- Previous Geriatric and Palliative Care experience preferred
- Current CPR or BCLS certification, level ‘C’ is required.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to understand, interpret and carry out written and verbal instruction.
- Ability to set priorities
- Knowledge of Patient and Family Centred Care
- Ability to work effectively and provide care within a team environment, according to Nursing Care Plan.
- Ability to work independently and to perform duties within the physical demands of the work area. [i.e. lifting and mobilization of patients]
- Basic knowledge of established Infection Control and Occupational Health & Safety practices.
- Preparing deceased patients and assisting their transport within the facility as required.
- Knowledge of body mechanics, and safe lift & transfer practices.
- Basic knowledge of sterility and aseptic technique.
- Flexible, Adaptable, and able to multi-task
- Electronic Health Record Inpatient & Registration Basics Training is a requirement (to be completed before first shift)
Tours: Shifts as per schedule. Nights, Days, Evenings, Weekends.
Wages: Applicable rates as per Collective Agreement
